Early Work 1970’s-1980’s

Although I made some photographs in the 1960’s they do not exist here. I start with images from the early 1970’s because I feel that that is when I began to make “street” pictures that were successful to me at that time and appealed to my sensibility as a kid growing up and hanging around certain street corners in the North End of Springfield, Massachusetts in the late 1950’s and 60’s. In some ways, they are like “autobiographs” or visual memoirs and references as much as photographs. Or, images of things or places similar to what I saw in my own local neighborhood. A universal commonality between people no matter where they lived or the daily rituals in which they participated from day to day.
